Performing Stars is a unique programme developed specifically designed for secondary school aged children promoting physical and emotional expression in the three disciplines of musical theatre. Students will be encouraged to learn, explore, develop and create within a safe environment.They will receive reports twice a year on their progress and efforts.
The session will start with 30 minutes of preperation exercises in which Bright Stars, Shining stars and Performing Stars will work together. This will be followed by three micro sessions lasting 45 minutes each.
Drama: During this stage, students will be encouraged to futher develop character work. They will learn how to perform monologues and duologues and further layers of emotional exploration will be encouraged. Placed in a safe environment young adults are encouraged to take risks with their interpretation of text and improvisation. Challenging texts will be used to stretch their skills and imagination.
Singing: During this stage students will be taught many techniques to further improve their voice. They will learn; how to expand their vocal range, ear training and pitch control, microphone techniques, stage presence, understanding chest and head voice and the bridge between voices.
Dance: Students will be taught how to portray character through their dance and start to create more expressive dance rountines. Students will be given the opportunity to dance solos and perform ensembles. They will learn a range of styles covering; street, modern, indian, Jazz, Urban, Contemporary, Ballet and various others.
Students will be taught in classes of no more than 20 in a professional dance studio with mirrored wall, drama studio and music room to maximise their ability to learn.
